Shimco custom CNC milled this polyimide laminated shim for an aerospace client in Canada, after first designing and manufacturing the work-holding fixture for the milling operations. The CNC milling included the mill profiling and mill contouring as well as drilling and milling the center hole, shear and CNC vertical mill, and the utilization of a lamination press.

The part measured 8.745” long and 5.937” wide with a thickness of 0.048”. The polyimide was as per AMS-DTL-22499 composition 6, type 1, class 1. Following the dimension inspection, we shipped the 10 completed parts to our aerospace client.
