SHIMCO BECOMES A CARIC MEMBER

Recently, Shimco was accepted as a member of the Consortium for Aerospace Research and Innovation in Canada (CARIC), and was awarded the first CARIC Aero-Connect funded project in Ontario.

CARIC is a non-profit organization that was created in 2014 with the federal government’s financial support. CARIC’s Mission is to generate and foster dialogue and collaboration between players in the aerospace industry; to provide financial support to launch Industry led R&D projects in partnership with these players; and in providing concierge services to maximize funding leverage for industry. CARIC extends to Aerospace, Defence and Space sectors.

Peter Voss, President and CEO of Shimco said: “Acceptance as a CARIC member is a prestigious honour. Their mission in research parallels the vision of Shimco to drive technology and innovation through developing and testing the latest advanced manufacturing technologies. It is a privilege to be the first recipient of their Aero-Connect program in Ontario. CARIC has already proven to be an invaluable source for finding the right research partners for our projects and for identifying and directly facilitating sources of funding. CARIC will definitely be part of our long-term research and technology support and funding strategies.”

CARIC’s President & CEO, Denis Faubert, agreed: “Shimco is a great addition to the CARIC network. It brings unique capabilities that will be put to good use by our members. Our research partnership will bring many positive benefits to the Canadian aerospace industry.”
