Shimco is now approved under 15 separate special processes in Bombardier’s Approved Supplier List.
CAMBRIDGE, Ontario, September 20, 2021 – Shimco, an award-winning, world-wide leader in the manufacture of precision parts and gap-management solutions has successfully completed the site audit of its new, state-of-art special processes facility by Bombardier.
“The team at Shimco Processing worked diligently over the last several months, ensuring that we would exceed the demanding requirements of Bombardier’s special process approvals on our first attempt. I was not surprised that they were successful!” said Peter Voss, Shimco President and CEO. “When we put our collective efforts toward something, I know we can make it happen. We are now approved under 15 different Bombardier special process approvals, related to chemical conversion coatings, painting and laboratory. Passivation and sulphuric acid anodizing special processes are expected to be approved very shortly. As well, although we are fully capable of using hexavalent chrome special processes, we focused on non-hexavalent chrome processes, in all areas, to be compliant with strict international REACH standards, to ensure the safety of our employees and end customers and to minimize any impacts on the environment.”
Voss continued, “The next phase of our approvals will be with the National Aerospace and Defence Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP). Our audit with NADCAP is already scheduled for this fall. We are now open for business to process parts for Bombardier’s suppliers, at very competitive prices, and will be open to all aerospace and defense customers once we get NADCAP approvals later this year.”
