Shimco has started construction of its new best-cost facility in MidParc, Casablanca, Morocco.
Cambridge, Ontario, June 3, 2024 – Shimco, an award-winning, world-wide leader in the manufacture of precision parts, gap-management solutions and metal surface
treatments, has started construction of it’s new facility in the MidParc acceleration zone, located adjacent to the Casablanca international airport in Morocco.
Attending the Shimco groundbreaking in MidParc, Casablanca included The Canadian Ambassador to Morocco, Isabelle Valois, MidParc President, Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi, Shimco CEO, Peter Voss, Shimco President, Soeb Puda and LGL CEO, Hanna Rouah.
This new 15,000 square foot facility will manufacture the same class of parts that are currently produced at Shimco’s primary plant in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, such as peelable and solid shims, pins, bushings, washers, brackets, spacers and small details, primarily for the aerospace and defense industries worldwide, making Shimco a dual source supplier within one company. A variety of new CNC mills and lathes will be purchased for this facility.
Peter Voss, Shimco’s CEO, noted, “Plans are already in place to at least double the Moroccan facility within the next 3 years. Demand has been strong from many OEMS and Tier 1 aerospace companies, in both Morocco and Europe, given its proximity to those supply bases. Shimco Morocco will be the only best-cost supplier for our class parts located in the region.”
To emphasize the interest in having a best-cost supplier located in the local aerospace and defense supply chain, Voss continued, ”Shimco is pleased to announce that it has secured a long-term contract with Airbus to supply shims and small parts from our new Moroccan facility. I would like to thank Airbus for their trust in Shimco and for their support of this new facility with this new dedicated work package. Shimco is proud to join the very significant Airbus aerospace ecosystem in Morocco.”

The new facility is planned to open in early 2025.
